Why a spa adds a cold plunge pool
The cold plunge pool is today the most requested treatment after the sauna and hammam, and the only one that sells as a journey (hot/cold contrast) without a practitioner. It takes up 2 to 4 m², fits into an existing wet area and creates a reason to return for local clientele, not only hotel guests. 10 to 30 uses per day is the typical operating regime for an equipped hotel spa.
What to specify for a spa
A spa is a venue open to the public: the water must be treated, renewed and traceable. The configuration depends on usage frequency:
Pro standard
- Usage frequency
- 10 to 30 plunges per day
- Typical use
- Hotel spa, urban spa, institute
- Tank
- Ultimate XL or Handmade (kambala wood)
- Chiller
- PRO 3 kW chiller, redundant version 2 × 1.5 kW
- Water treatment
- Automatic renewal + germicidal UV-C lamp + pro chlorine filter
- Lead time
- 8 weeks
Pro intensive
- Usage frequency
- 50 to 150 plunges per day
- Typical use
- Thalasso, high-traffic wellness centre, spa with a continuously open journey
- Tank
- PRO range, double-wall 316L stainless steel, 1 to 3 people
- Chiller
- High-power professional heat pump, rated for +40 °C climates
- Water treatment
- Automatic renewal, UV-C, sand filter, chlorine dosing pump, titanium heat exchanger
- Lead time
- 14 weeks
Spa-specific points: dual suction (surface skimmer + bottom drain); titanium heat exchanger resistant to chlorine, salt and ozone; plant room air-conditioned and separated from the wet area; chiller that can be installed remotely to remove noise from the treatment area; 3/4" plumbing connections (catalogue) or Ø 50 mm (intensive) to be arranged by your plumber. The PolarPlunge treatment pack covers the pool; the rest of the spa's sanitation remains the responsibility of your pool contractor.

Frequently asked questions
What temperature for a spa cold plunge pool? The temperature is generally set between 5 °C and 15 °C depending on each user's cold tolerance, with immersion up to the neck (the head does not need to be submerged). A few minutes per session are enough: most of the benefits are already obtained from a cumulative exposure of around ten minutes per week, with movement in the water recommended. A sign listing contraindications (pregnancy, heart conditions, epilepsy, alcohol/drugs) is displayed near the pool.
Is a declaration or health inspection required? A cold plunge pool open to the public falls under the rules applicable to pools open to the public; the PolarPlunge configuration (regulated chlorine, filtration, renewal) is designed for these requirements. [BENJAMIN: confirm the exact wording with Nicolas]
Can the pool run continuously? Yes in pro configuration; the PRO chiller and automatic renewal are sized for supervised daily use.
What lead time? 8 weeks for the catalogue range, 14 weeks for intensive PRO, excluding plumbing and electrical works, which are your responsibility.
Can it be combined with a sauna? Yes: see our contrast therapy page.
